Analysis: Leonard has played in just nine games after missing the beginning of the season because of right quadriceps tendinopathy. He also was sidelined briefly because of a shoulder injury. Spurs general manager RC Buford said Wednesday that Leonard has made significant progress in his recovery but ''this is the best approach for the next steps in his return to play.'' The All-Star forward is averaging 16.2 points this season.
|Jan. 15 9:56 AM PT10:56 AM MT11:56 AM CT12:56 PM ET17:56 GMT1:56 10:56 AM MST12:56 PM EST21:56 UAE18:5612:56 ET11:56 AM CTNaN: - Leonard is not on the injury report for Wednesday's visit to Brooklyn after he sat out Monday in Atlanta with a quad issue.
Analysis: He wasn't on the initial injury report Monday, so it could have been a case of Gregg Popovich simply managing his biggest star.
|Jan. 7 5:26 PM PT6:26 PM MT7:26 PM CT8:26 PM ET1:26 GMT9:26 6:26 PM MST8:26 PM EST5:26 UAE (+1)02:2620:26 ET7:26 PM CTNaN: - After missing three games with a partial tear in his left shoulder, Leonard returned Saturday and scored 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting as the San Antonio Spurs topped the Denver Nuggets 112-80. Leonard grabbed eight rebounds and had four assists, accumulating a plus-minus of +13 in his 28:26 of playing time. He added one block and four steals.
Analysis: This should ease any concerns owners may have had over Leonard's latest injury being a long-term issue. The Spurs don't play any back-to-backs during the coming week, bringing hope that the fragile star forward may actually go through a cycle not missing any time for one of the rare occasions this season.
|Jan. 5 7:37 PM PT8:37 PM MT9:37 PM CT10:37 PM ET3:37 GMT11:37 8:37 PM MST10:37 PM EST7:37 UAE (+1)04:3722:37 ET9:37 PM CTNaN: - Kawhi Leonard scored 21 points Friday, going 9 of 19 from the field, as the San Antonio Spurs topped the Phoenix Suns 103-89. Leonard pulled down three rebounds and had three assists, accumulating a plus-minus of +5 in his 28:31 on the floor. He added three blocks and four steals. Leonard went 1 of 6 from behind the arc.
Analysis: This was another solid effort from Leonard, who scored at least 21 for the third time in four games. He played over 28 minutes after he was rested at Philly on Wednesday in the second of a back-to-back.
|Jan. 3 8:27 AM PT9:27 AM MT10:27 AM CT11:27 AM ET16:27 GMT0:27 9:27 AM MST11:27 AM EST20:27 UAE17:2711:27 ET10:27 AM CTNaN: - Leonard (rest) won't play Wednesday against the 76ers.
Analysis: This is strictly Gregg Popovich playing things safe on the second night of a road back-to-back. He should return Friday against Phoenix.
|Jan. 2 7:12 PM PT8:12 PM MT9:12 PM CT10:12 PM ET3:12 GMT11:12 8:12 PM MST10:12 PM EST7:12 UAE (+1)04:1222:12 ET9:12 PM CTNaN: - Kawhi Leonard scored 25 points Tuesday on 8-of-20 shooting as the San Antonio Spurs topped the New York Knicks 100-91. Leonard pulled down eight rebounds and dished out four assists, tallying a plus-minus of +4 in his 30:32 on the floor. He tacked on four steals. Leonard went 3 of 8 from behind the arc.
Analysis: As expected, Leonard's minutes keep increasing as he played a season-high 30:32 in this one. He still hasn't been cleared to play on back-to-back nights so expect him to be rested Wednesday in Philadelphia.
|Jan. 1 12:39 PM PT1:39 PM MT2:39 PM CT3:39 PM ET20:39 GMT4:39 1:39 PM MST3:39 PM EST0:39 UAE (+1)21:3915:39 ET2:39 PM CTNaN: - Leonard will play Tuesday when the Spurs visit the Knicks.
Analysis: With the Spurs back on the court Wednesday at Philadelphia, it would seem Leonard will sit the second half of the back-to-back.
|Dec. 30 6:47 PM PT7:47 PM MT8:47 PM CT9:47 PM ET2:47 GMT10:47 7:47 PM MST9:47 PM EST6:47 UAE (+1)03:4721:47 ET8:47 PM CTNaN: - Kawhi Leonard scored 18 points Saturday on 4-of-11 shooting as the San Antonio Spurs lost to the Detroit Pistons 93-79. Leonard pulled down two rebounds and dished out three assists, tallying a plus-minus of -21 in his 27:34 of playing time. He added one block and one steal. Leonard went 1 of 3 from behind the arc.
Analysis: Leonard also had four turnovers in what wasn't the most efficient of performances, but the good news is he logged the most minutes of the six games he's appeared in since returning from his quadriceps injury. The two-time All-Star has tallied 39 points in the last two as he gets closer to his past form, but he's still likely to be held out of one of the Spurs' games of an upcoming back-to-back set Tuesday and Wednesday.
|Dec. 28 3:53 PM PT4:53 PM MT5:53 PM CT6:53 PM ET23:53 GMT7:53 4:53 PM MST6:53 PM EST3:53 UAE (+1)00:5318:53 ET5:53 PM CTNaN: - Leonard (rest) will be available Saturday after sitting out Thursday for what the team is calling injury management.

|Dec. 23 11:29 AM PT12:29 PM MT1:29 PM CT2:29 PM ET19:29 GMT3:29 12:29 PM MST2:29 PM EST23:29 UAE20:2914:29 ET1:29 PM CTNaN: - Leonard played Tuesday after missing Saturday's win over the Kings due to a sore quad.

|Dec. 22 9:51 PM PT10:51 PM MT11:51 PM CT12:51 AM ET5:51 GMT13:51 10:51 PM MST12:51 AM EST9:51 UAE06:510:51 ET11:51 PM CTNaN: - Kawhi Leonard scored 10 points Thursday on 4-of-8 shooting as the San Antonio Spurs lost to the Utah Jazz 100-89. |Dec. 19 11:34 PM PT12:34 AM MT1:34 AM CT2:34 AM ET7:34 GMT15:34 12:34 AM MST2:34 AM EST11:34 UAE08:342:34 ET1:34 AM CTNaN: - Kawhi Leonard scored seven points Monday on 3-of-7 shooting as the San Antonio Spurs topped the Los Angeles Clippers 109-91. Leonard pulled down four rebounds and added an assist, tallying a plus-minus of -3 in his 15:40 on the floor. Leonard went 1 of 3 from behind the arc.
Analysis: Leonard has now played in three games since his extended absence due to a quad injury and seen between 16 and 17 minutes in each. With the Spurs continuing to handle their star forward with extreme care, he may not be a fantasy factor again until January.
|Dec. 19 2:35 PM PT3:35 PM MT4:35 PM CT5:35 PM ET22:35 GMT6:35 3:35 PM MST5:35 PM EST2:35 UAE (+1)23:3517:35 ET4:35 PM CTNaN: - Leonard (rest) will not play Wednesday.
Analysis: Leonard has played in three of the last four games since making his debut. He is still not completely 100 percent from his quad issue, so this is understandable.
|Dec. 16 10:23 PM PT11:23 PM MT12:23 AM CT1:23 AM ET6:23 GMT14:23 11:23 PM MST1:23 AM EST10:23 UAE07:231:23 ET12:23 AM CTNaN: - Kawhi Leonard scored 12 points Friday, going 5 of 9 from the field, as the San Antonio Spurs fell to the Houston Rockets 124-109. Analysis: Leonard's second game back from a quadriceps injury was a lot like the first, as he tallied 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting along with six rebounds in 16 minutes Tuesday at Dallas. The Spurs have already said their prized forward won't be active for Saturday's game against the Mavericks, and it's still going to be some time before he sees heavy minutes.
|Dec. 15 4:15 PM PT5:15 PM MT6:15 PM CT7:15 PM ET0:15 GMT8:15 5:15 PM MST7:15 PM EST4:15 UAE (+1)01:1519:15 ET6:15 PM CTNaN: - Leonard (rest) is out for Saturday's game against the visiting Mavericks after playing Friday in Houston.
Analysis: Leonard (quadriceps) made his much-anticipated return Tuesday in Dallas. He scored 13 points, pulled down six rebounds and added an assist in his 15:51 on the floor. Leonard had not played since Game 1 of last season's Western Conference finals. He hurt his left ankle in the opener of that series against Golden State, turning it while trying to land after a jump shot and coming down on the foot of Warriors center Zaza Pachulia.
|Sep. 30 12:32 PM PT1:32 PM MT2:32 PM CT3:32 PM ET19:32 GMT3:32 12:32 PM MST2:32 PM EST23:32 UAE21:3215:32 ET2:32 PM CTNaN: - Leonard (quadriceps) made his much-anticipated return Tuesday in Dallas. Leonard scored 13 points Tuesday, going 6 of 12 from the field, as the San Antonio Spurs lost to the Dallas Mavericks 95-89. Leonard pulled down six rebounds and added an assist, accumulating a plus-minus of +8 in his 15:51 on the floor. He added one block and one steal. Leonard went 1 of 4 from 3-point range.
Analysis: Leonard last played in Game 1 of last season's Western Conference finals. He hurt his left ankle in the opener of that series against Golden State, turning it while trying to land after a jump shot and coming down on the foot of Warriors center Zaza Pachulia. Even without Leonard, who averaged a career-best 25.5 points last season and is a two-time defensive player of the year, the Spurs are 19-8 this season.
